When Briggs introduced the HD blower housing it
allowed me to create a simple but very effective
third bearing for the Animal / WF engines.
The kit is very simple to install and provides that
added support you are looking for.
The kit includes everything you need to install it on
your blower housing.
You get the following:
Aluminum bearing support, sealed ball bearing,
special starter nut and the mounting nuts and bolts.

When you want to build an Animal or a model 15 to make 25
HP (or more??) the weak link in the engine is the stroker
(flathead) crank that was originally designed for 5 HP.
Breaking cranks is very common.
Here's a picture of my new billet side cover with the 4th
bearing support that comes directly off the existing side
cover.
Other external bearing supports require a additional plate
that goes under the engine between the block and the motor
mount.
Other bearing supports on the market also require adding a
piece to the pto end of the crank (extension) to make it long
enough to fit into the 4th bearing. How do you ever get that
to run true unless you weld the extension on the existing
crank and then machine it down again. That's expensive,
time consuming and a welded up piece of *%$%*&*(.
This chromoly crank is one piece (no need to add an
extension) This crank and side cover is designed to have the
bearings directly against the crankshaft counterbalances.
The counter balances are no where near as massive as the
stock configuration.
The crank can also be cut to length.
This crank is truly unique.
